                                        AERC National Endurance Ride

In Feburary, the club was asked to provide communications for the AERC (American Endurance Riding Conference)National Championship Endurance Ride. Not knowing how to say no, we agreed to help out . The ride manager, Steph Teeter, listed us as a Bronze supporter for the event. The Ride was held at the City of Rocks National Preserve, a very beautiful area managed by both the State of Idaho and National Parks Service. The ride was Sept. 20 and 22, a 50 mile ride on Friday, the 20th, and a 100 mile ride on the 22nd. I would like to thank the hams that helped out. We had a good time, had fun, good food and did an "outstanding" job.

The crew consisted of (left to right) John, NO6Z, John, KD7HGS, Deb, KE7TMF, Christian, K7CTD, Mike, KC5KKX,  Terri, KC5KKY, and Bob, W7RLS.

Below: The City of Rocks is just that: an area of cliffs and outcropping of rocks that nature has created. There is no way pictures can capture the beauty of the area, but a few are below. If you have never been there you should go, stay at the Smokey Mt. Campground (a State Park) and explore. Well worth the trip.

In the picture below, the base camp can be seen as the little white dots at the bottom of the canyon, just to the left of the dark green hill.

The scenery here was absolutely beautiful, but we were here on a mission. So we buckled up our radio vests, charged our batteries and set off... (cont. on page two)
